Jade’s life has been greatly impacted by mental illness. Growing up with family members who have experienced conditions such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. Then, as a new mother she developed postnatal depression and anxiety.
2 years postpartum, Jade is well into her recovery journey and runs a very supportive Instagram group @shadesofjade
Despite wanting to be a mum, being in love with your baby and having early support, postnatal anxiety and depression is an illness that can happen suddenly or more gradually over months.
Some signs for family members and friends to look out for, that a new mother might be struggling and how can they support her.
