Episode 16: Breastfeeding with Insufficient Glandular Tissue
Villages aren’t just for bringing up children. Sometimes we need them to help feed the babies too.
Today, our Tits Up guest is GP, Dr Marina McPherson and we are discussing Breastfeeding with Insufficient Glandular Tissue.
Imagine yourself all ready for a totally natural breastfeeding experience with your first baby, and it doesn’t go as well as you’d hoped it would. It can be devastating for Mums causing guilt, grief and confusion, not to mention a continuous, demanding and exhausting feeding routine.
Dr Marina McPherson shares her experience of low milk supply with Pinky. Even as a family doctor, Marina found herself struggling for resources and ideas.
Their conversation also covers thoughts on weaning, comfort feeding and the amazing nursing mother’s support groups – one great example being the milk banks: mothers with oversupply helping Mum’s with undersupply – relieving Mastitis and supplementing hungry babies.

Newborns need to be fed around the clock and the Mama milk machine doesn’t stop – day or night! The average baby requires at least nine hours of ‘hands-on care’ a day and that doesn’t include all the extra tasks of washing, cooking and basic self-care (like simply having a shower!) that goes with the new addition to your family.
As you breastfeed and care for your baby, feeding yourself is often the last thing you can manage. This is why I (Pinky – I am International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) created delicious Boobie Foods – Boobie Bikkies and Boobie Brekkie – to nourish you as you breastfeed your baby.
As a nourishing snack, an analysis by Victoria University, Melbourne, found that Pinky’s Boobie Foods can be a helpful nutritional complement to a healthy balanced diet. And, because we know that everything mothers eat will be passed to their baby through breast milk, Boobie Bikkies® and Boobie Brekkie ® are made from all natural and organic ingredients with no preservatives or additives.
You can download my FREE ebook ‘Making More Mummy Milk, Naturally’ and you will get 15% off any purchase when you order Boobie Bikkies, Boobie Brekkie and any of the carefully curated breastfeeding accessories at www.boobiefoods.com.au . Use code TITSUP at checkout to receive your 15% discount.
